JJ & Michael have a long history of performing music for large audiences. They have done television, radio and many venues here on Maui, including the main stage of the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, known as the MACC. Their most recent event was performing for Hawaii Governor Lingle and Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa at the Mayor's inauguration in February of 2003. They are a well-known, singer-songwriter, music couple. Your reception music will consist of a variety of music, performed either acoustically or with amplification. Presotn&Beachwood provides keyboard, guitar and silver flute... and plays your favorite music, ranging from six decades. Their styles include pop, rock, country, R&B and Hawaiian. If you just want guitar, vocals and harmony, they can actually move around from table to table, playing acoustically, choosing songs based on the tastes and ages of the guests at each table!
If you prefer amplification, suggested for larger audiences, JJ and Michael will set up their entire sound system and light trees. As they have played many times in almost every venue here on Maui, Preston&Beachwood knows each performance area, and how to best set up for their show.
A very popular format is to play Hawaiian music for the first hour for cocktails, Pop music for the second and third hours for dinner... and then pick up the pace with faster live music, and then switch to DJ for dancing! You can customize the live music to your specific needs. Preston & Beachwood has played most reception venues, and can advise you as to the best ones to choose for what you want!
Although JJ and Michael play live upbeat music as the evening progresses past your dinner hour, they really don't consider it dance music with a heavy beat. Again, if you really want to have a few hours of dancing to all your favorite dance tunes, see their DJ services.
Coming soon, JJ and Michael are incorporating background tracks into their live performance sets. The sound will be that of a ten-piece band, with JJ and Michael performing, singing and playing their instruments. You get a full-band sound for a duo price!
