Music is how JJ and Michael make their living. 1AtHeart takes pride in giving our wedding couples and their family and friends, the best and most memorable romantic music for their very special day. We always strive to give you "MORE" than you imagined or expected.
Most wedding ceremonies on Maui are from 15 to 20 minutes long. Certain church weddings may take 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the type of ceremony desired. Your ceremony can happen on the beach, in a chapel, on a beautiful green hotel lawn with gazebo or waterfall nearby, or on a cliff overlooking the beautiful blue Maui ocean waters! Maui has everything! Almost all of the music for these ceremonies is performed acoustically, without amplification.
Most ceremonies that include music have a song to usher in your wedding party such as brides' maids, parents, flower children, etc. Then, your grand entrance, to begin, the processional. Next, one or two songs within your ceremony. Finally, a song to complete your ceremony, the recessional. These songs can be any type that you desire, from pop ballads performed with guitar/vocals, to classical music performed with piano/keyboard. It is your day, you can decide how you want to personalize your ceremony! It is also okay, not to walk in or out, but just to stand and take a moment to pause as the music puts everyone in the mood!
If you want a more traditional style of grand entrance, the pipe organ voicing on JJ's keyboard sounds awesome, it fills the air with a most beautiful organ sound, and is definitely very grand in nature when playing the Wedding March! Usually we provide the ending recessional with the Wedding March from, "A Midsummer Night's Dream", which is the traditional recessional. Within your ceremony, you can have pop songs of any kind performed vocally with guitar and keyboard, or classical music. We do recommend vocals, and keep them brief versions, but again, it is whatever you desire! We can suggest and tell you what usually works best, but most importantly, we want you to have your wedding day just the way you have dreamed it to be!
Our keyboard goes everywhere, as it is a state-of-the-art keyboard, operates with batteries, and has beautiful digital sampled instruments. Our pipe organ on this keyboard sounds better than most pipe organs in the churches of Maui!
If you do not desire the traditional grand entrance, JJ and Michael can sing and play a wide variety of popular music spanning the last 6 decades! Instruments include Piano/keyboard, silver flute, guitar, pipe organ on keyboard, harp on keyboard, and Hawaiian Conch Shells. JJ's silver flute is angelic. It creates an incredible ambience for dove and butterfly releases, as well as a great variation after the ceremony, providing wonderful, subtle background music after the ceremony.
JJ and Michael usually play an instrumental before your ceremony, a special song for your bridal party or bridesmaids and parents processing in. Then, your processional (whatever you have chosen) for you to walk in... then a song or two within the ceremony, then as you kiss, they blow the traditional Hawaiian Conch Shells. This is an ancient tradition of the Hawaiian people, who would announce the coming of royalty and to signal the beginnings of special events! You can also have them blow the shells to begin your ceremony, too.
JJ and Michael will perform after your ceremony, playing songs that you have chosen, or if none are chosen, then they will play what they know the audience would enjoy. This allows everyone to relax, congratulate you, sign the certificates, and pose for pictures, etc.
